Kytra was built as a private yacht by Herd McKenzie of Buckie Scotland in 1959 and was first exhibited at the London Boat Show.

In 50 years she sailed to 3 continents, visited 19 countries, crossed the Atlantic, sailed 5 Seas, explored Rivers, Canals and visited many great cities; London, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Venice, Gibraltar, Amsterdam, Capri, Valencia, Dubrovenik to name just a few.
Kytra has visited some of the worlds most celebrated sights from the ruins of Pompeii to the Giants Causeway. She has explored the Inland Waterways of the East Coast of America, the Gota Canal crossing Sweden, the Caledonian Canal crossing Scotland, the Dutch canals to Amsterdam, as well as the Seine River to Paris and the Thames to London.
She has had 3 owners, and for the last 30 years the present owner has maintained Kytra to the highest standard.
Her traditional style and qualities of strength and comfort has won her many friends and admirers, but her versatility makes her truly unique with the potential to create adventures anywhere in the world.
